Welcome, Please Excuse the Mess

Welcome, Please Excuse the Mess

This site is currently an evolving project, part academic portfolio, part intellectual workshop, and part public-facing historical forum. It began as a space to collect and present my graduate work as quality work was decidedly worth saving, but it’s now intended to grow into something broader: a curated body of research, commentary, and historical interpretation that reflects both formal scholarship and ongoing inquiry.

At its foundation, Historical Happenings serves as a repository for my academic writing, including essays, research papers, and eventually my completed thesis. These works represent structured, source-driven analysis, grounded in the methodologies of professional historical study. Over time, this section will expand to include revised and publishable versions of selected pieces, as well as longer-form projects aimed at wider academic and public audiences.

Video Series

Beyond formal writing, the site will develop into a more dynamic platform. A dedicated section for historical commentary will explore specific themes, events, and historiographical debates in a more accessible and conversational format. In parallel, I plan to introduce a video series examining key moments and concepts in military and political history, particularly those related to strategic decision-making, doctrine, and intelligence. In an addition, this section will also feature literary reviews and summaries, as well as current societal commentaries.

Literature

The project will also include curated recommendations of books, articles, and other resources that have shaped my understanding of history and that may be of value to others with similar interests, both academically and just as enjoyable reading. While there’s no possible way I could ever include everything related to the field of military history, the literature section serves more as an informative stepping stone toward discovering topics that may be of interest to you.

Ultimately, Historical Happenings is meant to document a process as much as a product. It reflects the ongoing development of a historian: the refinement of arguments, the expansion of perspective, and the continual reassessment of the past through new evidence and interpretation. As the site grows, it will become not only a record of completed work, but a living archive of intellectual progress. At least that is the eventual goal. This is to be an ever-growing project that I hope benefits others in some way, whether it be academically, professionally, or just personally as a favorite topic you wish to learn more of.
